Austin resident since 1994, Erick went vegetarian in 1997 and finally went vegan in 2006. Erick originally went vegetarian after a traumatic experience that involved finding a whole frozen pig's head buried under frozen burritos at a local branch of a nationally owned grocery store chain (reached for a burrito, came up with a snout.) Living smelling distance from meat packing plant as a kid also likely contributed. Liking animals had a crucial part to play as well. Erick currently lives under the care of two large cats in East Austin.
